The full screen interface does not replace the original infotainment system. You switch between CarPlay or Android Auto and the existing Volvo menu when you need vehicle functions.

Original Sensus screen retained
Model years 2018–2022 are a guideline. Volvo used different infotainment platforms during transition years, so the display generation is more important than model year alone.
This full screen solution is designed for the vertical Volvo Sensus system. Newer XC40 versions may use Google Built-in / Android Automotive; this specific interface is not automatically compatible with that platform.
That is why we ask for a dashboard photo. Especially for transition years around 2022, the model year alone may not be enough. The screen and system interface show us which Volvo generation is installed.
For a compatible, pre-checked XC40, installation typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours.

The strength of this upgrade is that the large vertical Volvo display is used much more effectively while the original Sensus system remains available.
