Cheap solution or hassle on wheels? We explain.
Are you looking for a way to add Apple CarPlay to your car? Then you must be the term CarPlay dongle encountered. Sounds convenient: plug in a small box and hoppa - CarPlay on your screen. But does it really work that way? And is it the best solution for your car?
At EYE4AUDIO we get questions about dongles every day, CarPlay boxes and OEM integration. That's why on this page we explain to you all about the CarPlay dongle: what it is, what it can (and especially can't) do, and what we recommend for a stable, reliable CarPlay experience.

A CarPlay dongle is a small device that you connect to your car's infotainment system via USB or the diagnostic port (OBD). The dongle simulates an Apple CarPlay module, so to speak. This allows you - in theory - to wirelessly use apps such as:
Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze
Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music
WhatsApp, Telegram and iMessage
Siri for hands-free operation
You connect your iPhone via Bluetooth or WiFi and use CarPlay without a cable.
Because we stand for reliability, stability and ease of use. And those are exactly the three things CarPlay dongles often fail on. Consider:
Delayed connections
Occasionally no sound or picture
Loss of Bluetooth or WiFi
Low compatibility with original car systems
Poor workmanship and no updates
Often they are universal solutions that just don't integrate well with your specific vehicle. And that's a shame - because you don't buy a car to "mess around. You just want it to work.

We work with our own EYE4AUDIO CarPlay Box. No dongle, but a professional built-in system that we place directly behind your original screen. This gives you:
Full OEM integration (original buttons, steering controls and screen continue to work)
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Fast and stable connection
Compatibility with reversing cameras and PDC
No visible cabinets or cables
This keeps your car looking sleek AND gives you the modern features you are looking for.
